Submissions

Kia ora,

We are currently not accepting submissions until Monday 7 April 2025. Any submissions sent before then will be disregarded.

Bateman Books publishes a select range of high-quality books, specialising in illustrated non-fiction, commercial fiction and children’s/YA books. We are open to receiving submissions from all genres that have a connection with Aotearoa, but don’t accept poetry. If you’d like to prepare your submission to send us in April, please include the following:

• Synopsis of the book
• Its intended market
• Some background information about yourself and your writing experience
• One or two sample chapters.

Please note the books we publish must have some connection to Aotearoa New Zealand, whether it’s theme, content, setting or author.

All manuscripts will be considered by the in-house publishing team, and you will be contacted within ten to twelve weeks with a decision or progress report.
