Author Bio

Arthur William Baden Powell devoted his life to the study of New Zealand's molluscs. He was a curator at Auckland museum for 39 years and also served as Assistant Director from 1936 until his retirement in 1968. His skill as an illustrator became widely admired with the publication of the first edition of this book in 1947.

The Editor
Brian Gill is Curator of Land Vertebrates at Auckland Museum. He has written several books, including New Zealand Extinct Birds and New Zealand Frogs and Reptiles.
