Description

An expansive book showcasing chiefly unpublished contemporary photographs taken by a wide range of artists focused on the unique characteristics of present-day Brooklyn.

Brooklyn has seen exponential change over the last 15 years, and countless photographers from all over the world have been capturing those changes and movements in cityscapes, portraits, vignettes, and process-oriented photography. Brooklyn Photographs Now reflects the avant-garde spirit of the city’s biggest borough, containing previously unpublished work by well-known and emerging contemporary artists. The book will contain more than 250 images from all by more than 75 new and established artists, including Mark Seliger, Ryan McGinley, Mathieu Bitton, Michael Eastman, among many others. The end result is a book of photographs that not only document the physical and architectural landscape but reflect and explore an off-centered – and therefore a less-seen and more innovative – perspective of how artists view this city right now in the twenty-first century.
