Continuing their annual tradition, Sarah Forster from Booksellers NZ talks to New Zealand’s leading book publishers to get a preview of what new titles you can expect in 2019.
Our senior editor, Adrian Kinnaird, took part in the article and discusses some of our upcoming offerings for the New Year: Waitangi: A Living Treaty by Matthew Wright (due in late Jan), Ake Ake Kia Kaha E! B Company 28th Māori Battalion 1939-1945 by Wira Gardiner (April), and Historic New Zealand Racing Cars, by Steve Holmes (July).
He also offers his thoughts on publishing trends to watch out for, highlighting the recent variety of quality local non-fiction publishing. “In general, I think we’re seeing a sizable growth in local non-fiction. Thanks to recent company mergers in both publishing and distribution, there’s a lot of competition now for market share. I think we’re seing some bold choices in direction and subject matter, which can only be a win for local readers as publishers diversify their offerings to capture new readers.”
